A Mother's Day card to honor special moms in your life AND mothers all over the world!

Every woman has a story. Change her story, change history!

Who are the women in your life who have changed your story? Are they women with hearts broken by the things that break the heart of God? Do they step out in faith and reflect a willing heart in all they do? These are true Women of Vision.

This Mother's Day send a unique gift that honors her contributions as a woman of compassion and action. We invite you to make a donation in her name on behalf of mothers around the world who long for a chance to thrive and care for their families. Strong Women, Strong World is a special response by World Vision to offer sustaining resources for women and girls living in the worst places in the world to be a mother.

A heart-warming personalized card (with the drawing shown on the left) will be sent to each woman you wish to honor to let them know how they have enriched your life. It only takes a few moments to offer this act of gratitude that will not only bring joy to their hearts but offer hope to mothers and girls who long to be just like your honored woman. Your gift will last a lifetime. This opportunity will close on Wednesday, May 2nd, so act now!

It's just two easy steps:
We look forward to helping you honor a special woman this Mother's Day!

*Your contribution of $100 or more will be credited towards the Women of Vision chapter of your choice - you can specify the Triad NC Chapter and your donation will count towards our annual fundraising goals.

Every Woman has a Story

This week many Women of Vision will take to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

There are over 100 meetings scheduled!  We will be speaking to Congress about child trafficking- asking them to pass the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act and letting the House know that we are disappointed they have not come to a bipartisan agreement on the bill.  We will thank congress for strong Foreign Assistance for the 2012 fiscal year by presenting a gift telling them just how significant Foreign Assistance is.  We will also be asking that they keep strong Foreign Assistance number for 2013 and that they do not support a budget with Global Health, which in turn affect Child and Maternal health, cuts.

We understand that not everyone can attend the National Conference, but we would love if everyone could be a part of it.  We are asking that you join the Women of Vision in Washington, D.C. on March 6th by calling your Senators and Representatives and sharing the Women of Vision message.  We know that when Women of Vision speak, they are heard.  We have the power to impact Congress in ways that will improve the lives of women, children and the vulnerable around the world.

What can you do?  Make Three Phone Calls!
Make two calls to your Senator and one to your Representative.  You can used the phone script found here.  Talking points and background information are also included if there is anything specific you would like to add. Log your call here so we can see the impact Women of Vision is making.

What else? Sign the TVPRA petition and send it to your friends, telling them why it is important.
We will hand deliver these signatures to Congress.  The more signatures we have, the greater the impact.  http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/pass-the-tvpra/

Pray.
Heavenly Father, we pray today for the Women of Vision and the World Vision team on Capitol Hill who is speaking with Congress about human trafficking and needed assistance for the World's poor.  We pray that the hearts, minds and actions of Members of Congress reflect your will to care for the poor, neglected and marginalized.  Bless this work in you name, Amen.

Thank you,
Christina Bradic, WOV Advocacy Intern

Focusing on sustainable, community-driven, long-term solutions, this movement will support programs and practices to empower, protect, educate, and nurture girls and women living in some of the most challenging places in the world. It will use an integrated, holistic response to address maternal and child health; water,
sanitation, and hygiene; education and leadership development; entrepreneurship; and education and advocacy around justice, rights, and protection. Strong Women, Strong World will enable women in the United States to join together and make a lasting difference for women and girls around the globe. Over the next five years, this initiative aims to raise $15 million for programs in the following areas:

  • Maternal and child health
  • Water, sanitation, and hygiene
  • Education and leadership development

Destined for Significance

February 16 (Thursday) 7:00-9:00
Location: The Piedmont Room, Womble Carlyle ~ One West 4th St. Winston-Salem
Destined for Significance
Be sure to mark your calendar and invite your friends to our second annual Women of Vision FriendRaiser.
We are excited to welcome keynote speaker Marilee Pierce Dunker.  The daughter of World Vision founder Bob Pierce, Marilee is a dedicated advocate for women and children around the world. She describes her motivation as “the simple heart of a mom combined with a passion to see suffering eased.”

With her gift for storytelling, Marilee is able to bring to life the remarkable stories of people she’s met around the world. “World Vision is not about programs—it’s about people,” she says, adding that she finds deep satisfaction in connecting people in need with those who have the ability to touch their lives and make a difference.

Her speaking style has been described as passionate, engaging, transparent, and vulnerable. As World Vision president Rich Stearns notes with both truth and humor, “Whenever Marilee speaks, you want to bring some tissue—it gets a little weepy.”

This is a great opportunity to share the mission of Women of Vision with your friends.  Everyone who bring a friend will be entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize – so save-the-date and have your friends save it too!
